Responsible AI & Research Practice
Research workflows, methods, disclosure, authorship, human oversight, data, confidentiality, reproducibility and the responsible use of AI across the research lifecycle.
Rethinking how research is produced, evaluated, shared and governed in the age of AI.
researchsystemsforum.eu/2027The European Forum on Research Systems brings together researchers, universities, research managers, libraries, funders, infrastructures and policy communities to examine how the conditions of research are changing. The inaugural edition connects artificial intelligence, research integrity, assessment, Open Science, scholarly communication and university governance within one shared conversation about the future of research systems.
The Forum is not organised around a single discipline. It focuses on the structures, rules, infrastructures and institutional choices that shape how research is produced, evaluated, shared and governed.
The inaugural edition connects four dimensions that are often discussed separately but increasingly shape one another.
Research workflows, methods, disclosure, authorship, human oversight, data, confidentiality, reproducibility and the responsible use of AI across the research lifecycle.
Research integrity, peer review, paper mills, research culture, metrics, careers and changing systems of research evaluation and assessment.
Open Science, FAIR practices, scholarly communication, bibliodiversity, multilingualism, research infrastructures and global inequalities in knowledge circulation.
Research governance, funding, science-for-policy, public trust, innovation, knowledge transfer and institutional transformation within universities and research organisations.
A compact two-day forum designed for meaningful exchange rather than excessive parallelisation. The programme combines plenary debate, focused labs, emerging-researcher participation and institutional dialogue.
Three keynote interventions and major plenary debates addressing system-level change across research.
Shared room · No parallel sessionsFocused working sessions around practical, institutional and policy problems affecting research systems.
6-8 curated labsA visible space for doctoral and early-career researchers to test ideas, present work and connect across institutions.
Posters · Lightning talks · MentoringUniversity leaders, research offices, funders, infrastructures and policy actors discuss implementation choices.
Cross-sector dialogueA curated, non-commercial showcase of tools and infrastructures supporting open, trustworthy and connected research.
Curated participationStructured opportunities for new collaborations between researchers, institutions and research-support communities.
Reception · Community exchangeParticipation is designed around contribution, attendance and institutional engagement. Calls and registration can be activated progressively as the inaugural edition moves from institutional development to public launch.
